Cabana Marisa

Just you, the forest and the lake

Cabana Marisa is not a guesthouse with a reception desk and strangers in the next room. It is a cluster of three wooden cabins rented together, to a single group — the extended family, the circle of friends, the work crew. The gate closes, and the valley is yours.

Each cabin has a living room and two bedrooms; two of them have two bathrooms each, the third has one. The interiors are woven with traditional rugs, woollen blankets and log-frame beds; the bathrooms are modern, with stone basins. Outside: the gazebo with its hearth, big enough for every evening, the cauldron, the barbecue, the griddle and the campfire spot.

The hosts live nearby and are the kind of people the reviews describe, almost in unison, as "welcoming like you rarely find". On request they prepare the hot tub, put up the glamping tent and point you to the good trails.

Where you actually are: at the tail of the lake, in Sălătruc

At the tail of Poiana Uzului Lake, in Sălătruc — the starting point of the trails into the Nemira Mountains, right next to the Izvorul Alb nature reserve. You can drive right up to the gate; the last kilometre is a gravel road.
