Nasolea Waterfall

You hear it before you see it — and, more often than not, you have it all to yourself.

In the middle gorge of the Uz, between Valea Uzului village and the lake, the water drops in steps through flysch sandstone. Nasolea Mare and Nasolea Mică are not giant waterfalls — the drop is only a few metres — but they are your waterfalls: you will rarely find anyone else there.

How to get there

From Cabana Marisa (Sălătruc, at the tail of the lake), follow the gorge road upstream, along the Uz. The bridge at the tail of the lake is 1.25 km from the guesthouse — about 15 minutes on foot — and the waterfall is another ~400 metres upstream: in all, an easy 20–25 minute walk, suitable for families with children too.

The path follows the riverbank — footwear with good grip is recommended, especially after rain, when the sandstone gets slippery.
